On 6th December 2018, Business Forum conducted by the Indonesian Embassy in Helsinki in collaboration with the Indonesian Honorary Consul, Mr. Heldur Alesse, managed to attract participants from Estonian tour operators, Estonia Travel Tourism Association and Talinna TV.
In this forum, the Head of Planning Agency of South Kalimantan Province explained and promoted various tourist destinations in South Kalimantan which consisted of various types of tourism consisting of natural tourism, cultural tourism and artificial tourism. Tourist destinations in South Kalimantan Province consist of ecotourism, geopark, Mount Meratus area, Bekantan monkey conservation area, floating market of Lok Baintan, and the gemstones market of Martapura.
In order to find out the opportunities for tourism promotion to Baltic countries, one of the presentations delivered at the Business Forum activities was the presentation of Mrs. Tiuu Vibrant, Estonia Travel Tourism Association regarding the largest tourism promotion activities in the Baltic region, the TOUREST Trade Travel Fair 2019.
From the results of the question and answer and discussion with all tour operators as well as the Estonia Travel Tourism Association, it is known that Estonian and other Baltic countries like nature or ecotourism and culture. This is in accordance with the tourist destinations in South Kalimantan coupled with the ease of accommodation where in South Kalimantan there are many international scale hotels including Ibis, Golden Tulip, Best Western, and the construction of international airports in 2020.
Related to visual promotion, at the meeting, Mr. Revo Raudjarv, producer and presenter of Talinna TV, which is the largest TV channel in Estonia, offers cooperation in making tourism promotion videos for the Province of South Kalimantan which will be broadcast on Tallinna TV just by financing travel tickets without the need to buy time on Talinna TV.
On March 3rd, 2018, Rich Horner, a British diver, posted a video on his Facebook page showing him diving among plastic litters in Nusa Penida, a small island off the coast of Bali. However, Horner explained that when he dived in the same location the next day, he did not find any thrash as he did the day before. The Indonesia government acknowledged Horner’s video and is currently coordinating and planning to overcome the issue, even though the litter also came from other countries, as well as Indonesia.
Sea cleanliness has always been on the top priority on the government’s environmental program including in Bali. Coordination on this matter are continuously being conducted among all related parties from local authorities all the way to international level. Education and awareness campaign on sustainable waste disposal are also given to all level of society.
Indonesia participated in the oldest and largest travel trade fair in the Baltic countries, Tourest Travel Trade Fair, 9 – 11 February 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia. The participation was a join cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Helsinki.

Indonesia has once again participated at the Matka Nordic Travel Fair 2018, which was held on 18-21 January 2018 in Helsinki, Finland. It was Indonesia’s third participation in the Matka Fair.
Through the tagline “Wonderful Indonesia”, Indonesia which was represented by the Ministry of Tourism and supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Helsinki has welcomed 7 (seven) tour operators : Asien Paradisresor, Bagus Retreat Resorts, Mava Holidays Indonesia, Goindonesia Tours, Adventure Indonesia, Travel Papua, and Puri Bagus Villa Resorts., to promote various travel destination in Indonesia.
The Embassy of Indonesia also took along the Bali Rara Dance School from Jakarta and the Chairman of the Indonesian Fashion Designers Association (or APPMI) of the Central Java Province, Mr. Sugeng Waskito, who is also the designer of Gee Batik Yogyakarta.
