Indonesia has once again participated at the Matka Nordic Travel Fair 2018, which was held on 18-21 January 2018 in Helsinki, Finland. It was Indonesia’s third participation in the Matka Fair.
Through the tagline “Wonderful Indonesia”, Indonesia which was represented by the Ministry of Tourism and supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Helsinki has welcomed 7 (seven) tour operators : Asien Paradisresor, Bagus Retreat Resorts, Mava Holidays Indonesia, Goindonesia Tours, Adventure Indonesia, Travel Papua, and Puri Bagus Villa Resorts., to promote various travel destination in Indonesia.
The Embassy of Indonesia also took along the Bali Rara Dance School from Jakarta and the Chairman of the Indonesian Fashion Designers Association (or APPMI) of the Central Java Province, Mr. Sugeng Waskito, who is also the designer of Gee Batik Yogyakarta.
For 3 (three) consecutive days, they filled the main stage (Inspiration Stage) at the Matka 2018 with various colorful performance, such as dances, namely the Sekar Jagat Dance, Pendet Dance, Legong Keraton Dance from Bali, and Nandak Betawi Dance from Jakarta, combining them with a Batik fashion show, which exhibited to the audience very high quality silk material with various traditional Indonesian motifs. These spectacles were the Embassy’s efforts to promote the Batik Tulis (Hand Drawn Batik) as Indonesia’s featured product, already recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Throughout the 4 (four) days of the Matka Fair, the “Wonderful Indonesia” booth opened a coffee corner which serves daily free coffee to the visitors. The barista uses various Indonesia specialty coffee namely from Toraja, Kintamani, Mandailing, Lintong, and Flores.
